to belong

Inclusion is not just a value to speak about. It is a skill children can learn, practise, and carry with them for life. In The Genes Foundation has the right team to make it happen through the stories, the resources, and the people behind them.

THE LEARNING PACKAGE

What Your School Receives

Each series of five storybooks comes with everything a school needs to bring inclusion into the classroom with confidence. The package is designed to work straight away — no additional preparation, no specialist training required. Teachers receive structured support, and children receive an experience that moves them

What’s Included

5 storybooks — beautifully illustrated stories centred on inclusion, empathy, communication, and children of determination, written for ages 5 to 9
3 lesson plans per book — carefully structured to help teachers guide each story into meaningful classroom discussion and activity
1 reflection worksheet per book — giving children space to connect what they have read to their own experiences and feelings
5 packs of 10 flashcards — supporting discussion, emotional recognition, group activities, and practical engagement across all learning styles
Designed for flexibility — materials work equally well in in-person classrooms and online learning environments

The Luna Lights the Way books were written to do something specific. Not simply to tell children to be kind — but to show them how. Each story gives children a language for situations they encounter every day: a classmate who seems withdrawn, a friend who communicates differently, a moment where someone could be included but isn’t yet. Children who go through this programme do not just learn about inclusion. They learn how to act on it.

A Programme That Works From Day One

How It Works?

The Stories: Each of the five books in the Luna Lights the Way series follows Leo and Luna — two friends navigating school, friendship, and difference together. The stories are written for children aged 6 to 10, with language that is warm and accessible, and illustrations that reflect the diverse world UAE children grow up in.

The Lasting Impact: Inclusion is not a one-day lesson. The programme is built around repetition, reflection, and practice across the school year so that the values children encounter in the books become habits they carry into the playground, the corridors, and the years ahead.

The Classroom Experience: Every book comes with three lesson plans that turn each story into a structured learning experience. Teachers guide children through discussion, reflection, and creative activity — using the worksheets and flashcards to deepen understanding and bring every child into the conversation, regardless of how they learn best.

SCHOOL ALIGNMENT STRIP

Built in Alignment With UAE Schools

Every element of the learning package, from the storybooks to the lesson plans and assessment tools, has been designed to sit naturally within the educational priorities schools in the UAE.

The end-of-year academic evaluation will produce structured findings that the Foundation intends to present to the Ministry of Education as evidence of the programme’s educational value. This is not simply a storytelling initiative — it is a documented approach to inclusion education, built to meet the standards that matter to UAE educators and school leaders.

UAE-BASED PROGRAMMES

Every participating school will receive a minimum of ten full sets of the Luna Lights the Way series, placed in the school library. These are not supplementary reading materials they are an invitation. When children choose to pick up a book about inclusion during independent reading time, the learning goes further than any lesson plan can take it on its own

School Storytelling Programme

Trained educators and academics visit participating schools to bring the stories to life. They read aloud, guide discussions, and create an interactive experience — in both English and Arabic — that gives children a shared moment around inclusion. These visits are designed to be memorable: the kind of morning a class talks about for weeks.

Bring the Programme to Your School

If you are a school principal, curriculum lead, or teacher in the UAE and you would like to learn more about how the Luna Lights the Way programme could work in your school, we would love to hear from you. Spaces in the 2026/2027 pilot are limited, and we are currently welcoming enquiries from schools who share our belief that inclusion begins in childhood.
